Death Records

The Italian Government has asked us to start doing Italian death records. Right now we only have one batch in the Que. Birth records will gradually be phased out and more death records will be added. We highly recommend you learn how to index death records before the birth records are all gone. It is anticipated that by the end of the year we will only have birth records in the Que. This doesn't mean that the birth records are all completed, only that the focus will change for now. As you continue to index, do three or four batches of birth records, then a death record. That way you will be able to do both.

Death records are similar to birth records in that they are also on a preprinted form. The items you look for and the words to identify them are different.

The record number, name, registration date are all the same. The other fields you will need to find are, the name of the deceased, the age of the deceased, the name of the father and mother, the name of the spouse and the comune where the person was born. The following pages will show you were to look to find this information.
